John "Jack" W. Soper

​Jack was born in New York City, and grew up in Passaic New Jersey. He graduated from Passaic High School and subsequently joined the Army where he served in Viet Nam. Upon returning he earned a Bachelor Degree from Jersey City State College and then earned a Masters Degree from Montclair State. Jack worked for a period of time as a special education teacher, and went on to work as a customer service manager for several book binderies. Prior to retirement Jack was employed by Phoenix Color in Rockaway, NJ.


Jack was predeceased by his parents William and Helen (White) Soper and his siblings Nancy and Tommy. Jack was also predeceased by his half-siblings Betty Wocott, Kenneth Soper and William (Sonny) Soper.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gina Blockus, half-sisters Yolanda Soper and Doris Nichols, Zella Dixon and step-sister Edna Fiske, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack most looked forward to family events and visits, and felt the biggest blessing in his life was finding his half- siblings and so many other family members. Jack loved his dog Honey. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to an animal rescue if you wish.

Visiting hours will begin at 2pm on Saturday, April 6, followed by a Funeral Service at 4:30pm and conclude with Military Honors at 5:15pm at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville
