John O. Poggioli, 73, of Somerville, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2013 in Raritan. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm Sunday, January 5 at Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 on Monday, January 6 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville. Entombment to follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum in Bridgewater.
John O. Poggioli was born in Brooklyn, New York to John James Poggioli and Evelyn Koltermann on September 13, 1940. He went to school at McKee High School, Staten Island. He married Marie Papapietro on August 29, 1964 in Staten Island, New York. He was self employed as an Electrical Contractor for over 40 years. He served in the United States Air Force. John enjoyed gardening, photography and playing the harmonica. He was a volunteer in the Immaculata High School Marching Band as photographer and videographer.
John O. Poggioli is preceded in death by his wife, Marie, his sister, Mary Anne Sheldon and his mother, Evelyn Woldin.
Surviving are his three daughters, Marisa Poggioli, Christina Pinnero and husband Andrew Pinnero, Janine Grimm and husband Casey Grimm and five grandchildren, Isabella, Marcello, Matteo, Tessa and Vivienne, and beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Immaculata High School Marching Band, 240 Mountain Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876.
