Jill M. Rager, nee Hanna, died peacefully on July 1, 2022, at home with the love of her family surrounding her. Jill endured a battle with ovarian cancer for 15 years with grace, courage, and dignity. She was a true cancer warrior. Born in Stow, Ohio, she moved to New Jersey her senior year and graduated from Immaculata High School, Class of 1983. She attended Raritan Valley Community College and worked at Channel Lumber, where she met her husband, Fred Rager, in 1987. The two married in 1994 and settled in Somerville where they loved frequenting local establishments. They honeymooned in London, and enjoyed traveling through the years, collecting a print from a local artist at each country they visited. Jill worked for Barnes and Noble College Booksellers for over fifteen years. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, weekly manicures, her dog, Sadie, and time spent at home. Most of all, she enjoyed the holidays and the quality time spent with her big family creating memories. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be remembered for the joy she brought into everyone’s lives. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Victoria Skates and Frederick Rager . Surviving are beloved husband of 27 years, Frederick H. Rager; her loving parents, John and Donna Hanna; her dear brothers and sisters, John Hanna and wife, Tammy; Lynn Simonetti and husband, Lon; Thomas Hanna and wife, Kellie; Garrett Hanna and wife, Michelle; and Nicole Bbalo and husband, Sebastian; her sister-in-law, Lynn Dombrowski and husband, Micheal, her brother-in-law, Mark Mongeau; as well as her cherished nieces and nephews, Sarah, Claire, Eric, Hannah, Veronica, Grace, Jillian, Maggie, Frankie, Emma, Catie, Patrick, Theresa (Gerardo), Micheal, Michelle (Chase), and Matthew as well as her extended family, colleagues, and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 9, at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 8:00 AM. Interment will follow at New Cemetery, Somerville. Memorial contributions may be made in Jill’s memory to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
