Jerry Grant Caden, 83, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, with his loving daughter by his side.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Jerry and Martha E. Caden (née Brundage), he was a graduate of Somerville High School. Mr. Caden went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University in Virginia before receiving his MBA in finance from New York University. He then joined the Peace Corps where he taught English in Iran for 2 years.

Mr. Caden settled to New York City where he met the love of his life Susan Berkowitz. The two were married and lived on the Upper East Side where they had their daughter, Jennifer. The Caden family settled back to Jerry’s hometown of Bridgewater where they enjoyed years together as a family. Mr. Caden was a municipal bond analyst with Moody’s Investment Service where he worked for over 30 years, retiring as vice president of the public finance department. After retirement, he volunteered as a tax preparer for senior citizens.

In his younger years, Jerry held his pilot’s license. Later on, he spent his leisure time sailing his boat on the Jersey coast. He also had a love of golf, and enjoyed playing at Fairway Mews in his retirement. He also loved spending time at the Somerset County Senior Center. Most of all, he treasured the quality time spent traveling with his wife, creating memories with his grandchildren, and spending holidays together with his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Caden.

Surviving are his loving daughter and son-in-law, Jen and Marc Reed; his cherished granddaughters, Cadie and Cydney; and his sister-in-law, Dr. Mina Berkowitz of New York.

A private remembrance for Jerry will be held on September 11, 25 years after he was among those fleeing Ground Zero, where he will be reunited with Susan and his parents at Somerset Hills Memorial Park. Never Forget.
