Janet Lorraine Garbarini

Janet L. Garbarini, nee Wagner, died peacefully on October 5, 2022, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer Disease.

Born in Staten Island, New York she was raised in Florida and Jersey City, NJ, where she graduated from Snyder High School, Class of 1960. She went on to work at the Newark Commercial Office of PSE&G and her hard work led her to become the Executive Secretary to the General Manager. There in 1965 she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Garbarini, and the two were engaged on Halloween before marrying the following September 10, 1966, at St. Bernard Church in Raritan.

Janet and Bill spent 47 years in Westfield before recently moving to Somerville in 2018. Wherever they lived, Janet and Bill enjoyed creating memories with family and friends. Janet was a loving wife, mother, friend, and grandmother. She was caring, sharing and never too busy to lend a hand to anyone in need. All those who met Janet loved her and will never forget her kindness. She often expressed to friends and family that she wanted to die before her husband, because she could not live without him. God saw to it that she got her wish.

She was preceded in death by grandmother, Janet Brown, and mother, Mae Hurst.

Surviving is her beloved devoted husband of 56 years, William “Bill” Garbarini, Sr., her loving children, William “Billy” Garbarini, Jr. and wife Maureen, and Paula Perreault and husband Marc, her cherished grandchildren who made her extremely proud, Dana Marie, Will, Luc, and Renee.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, October 14, 2022, at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM.

Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Somerville.
