James Longo died , October 4, 2013 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. Mr. Longo was born in East Orange and lived there for 35 years before moving to Newark, NJ in 1957. From 1969, he resided in Union, NJ before moving recently to Bridgewater in 2005. He was former member of the Knights of Columbus in the Union Council and also an adult Committee Member of Troop 21 of Maplewood. James was a successful entrepreneur for multiple businesses. He was a skilled carpenter and held a leadership position of the New Jersey carpenters union.

James was tremendously successful in all of his professional endevours and respected and beloved by all he encountered. This extraordinary man of great zeal was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence Ann and his parents Carmen and Rose Longo and his siblings Angelo, Mary, Joe, David, Phil, Tom, Felicia. He is survived by his loving sons and daughter, James V., David (wife Chris) and Jeanine Cavanagh (husband Jim); his special grandchildren Michael, Beth, Colleen, Tommy, Amanda, Laura, James and John. Also surviving are his brother and sisters; Kay, Lee and Carmen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am on Wednesday, October 9, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Ave., Somerville. Entombment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visiting hours from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday, October 8, at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Social Ministry, ℅ Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Ave., Somerville, NJ 08876 in James' memory.
