James Justice Hutchison, Jr.

March 21, 1955 — December 13, 2024

James Justice Hutchison Jr., 69, of Ringoes, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, Mary Belle, and three daughters, Michele, Melissa and Melanie. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the late James Hutchison Sr. and Alicia (Morales) Hutchison. Jim was raised in Watchung, New Jersey, and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School. Following in his father’s footsteps, he pursued a career as an electrician, becoming a dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 102 for 35 years.

A devoted father, Jim retired early to focus on raising his three young daughters. His passion for helping and encouraging others led him to pursue higher education at Cairn University, where he earned both his undergraduate degree in theology and a master’s degree in counseling. Jim’s deep commitment to his faith and his personal spiritual journey allowed him to guide and support others through his private counseling practice, for 23 years.

Jim was a lifelong member of Millington Baptist Church in Basking Ridge, where he made a lasting impact on his congregation. As a leader of the church’s Men’s Mentoring Program and Divorce Recovery Group, Jim’s kindness and wisdom helped many. He also used his skills as a licensed electrician to serve the church’s Building and Maintenance Ministry as well as Habitat for Humanity. As one of the church’s longest-serving members, Jim led Bible studies, and participated in small groups, and vacation bible school, offering both spiritual guidance and a compassionate ear to all.

Known as “Mr. Fix-It” by his family, Jim took great joy in helping his daughters with anything they needed, always eager to lend a hand with any project, big or small. He was also a passionate NASCAR fan, especially a supporter of Kyle Busch, and enjoyed skiing and spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.

Jim was joyfully greeted into heaven by his parents, James Sr. and Alicia Hutchison.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Belle (Jones) Hutchison; his daughters, Michele Worster and her husband Jeffrey, Melissa Hutchison, and Melanie Santos and her husband Yamil; his grandchildren, Lily, Charlie, Aaron, Cameron, Braydon, and Daniel; his dear step-sons, Christopher Blockus and Alexander Blockus and wife Rachelle, his brother, Robert Hutchison and his wife Suzanne; as well as his extended family, church community, and many friends.
