Hue Chau, 75, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.
Born in Ben Tre, Vietnam, to the late Van Chau and Hue Xuan Quach, Hue’s life was shaped early by creativity, patience, and care. After studying in Saigon, she became a master seamstress and sewing teacher, a role through which she quietly changed lives. Her students carried her lessons with them across decades and continents, many remaining in touch with her well into her later years.
In 1988, Hue immigrated to the United States, first settling in Los Angeles before making her home in Middlesex, New Jersey. There, she dedicated 30-years of her career as a dietary worker at Somerset Medical Center / RWJ to support her family.
Above all else, Hue was a devoted mother. She found joy in the kitchen, experimenting with both American dishes and traditional Vietnamese-Chinese recipes. She delighted in flowers and cultivating her garden. She loved traveling with her children, seeking out botanical gardens wherever they went. Some of her most cherished memories took place on a trip to Japan with her two children; moments filled with laughter and joy that will live on in their hearts forever.
Hue was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Kien Minh Chau and Nga Chau.
She is survived by her loving children, Timmy Chau and Juli Pham; their partners, Kara Williams and Julius “JP” Elberfeld; the father of her children, Tan Pham; her dear siblings Jennifer Chau, Phan Chau, Amy Chau, Richard Chau, Vincent Chau, and Chris Chau; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the skills she passed down, and the profound love she shared.
