Helen M. Knapp, 94, of Somerville, died peacefully on July 2, 2023.
Born and raised in Shenandoah, PA to the late Felix and Catherine McCullough (nee Saroka) she was a graduate of Shenandoah High School. She went on to meet the love of her life, Joseph Knapp, in downtown Shenandoah.The two were married on May 15, 1954, and settled to Somerville where they raised their family.
Mrs. Knapp was a long-time parishioner of The Church of The Immaculate Conception where she volunteered at the Immaculate Conception School in the lunchroom for many years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her time to her family. Helen was a talented seamstress who enjoyed crocheting and knitting, creating blankets as cherished gifts for family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Las Vegas, Noca Scotia and taking cruises together. Helen had fun taking trips to Atlantic City and Windcreek to play the slot machines, even enjoying a trip this year. She followed all of her grandchildren’s sports, watching countless baseball games, marching band performances, and Tae Kwan Do matches. Most of all, she cherished the quality time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Knapp, her dear brothers, Joseph and Felix, and her son in law Edward Barry.
Surviving are her loving children, Kathy Barry and Joseph M. Knapp, her cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Derek, Kyle, and Ryan, as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00AM on Monday, July 10, 2023, at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 8:00AM.
Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
