Harry Jacob Levy, Jr.

March 3, 1932 — October 12, 2023

Harry Jacob Levy, Jr., 91, died peacefully on October 12, 2023.

Born in Bronx, NY to the late Harry J. Sr. and Mary Levy (nee Dietrich), he was raised with his grandparents, Moise and Grace Levy in Voorheesville, NY. He graduated from Voorheesville High School. Harry then went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force in 1952. He met the love of his life, Sylvia when his red 1959 Triumph TR3A convertible caught her eye while they worked together. The two were married in 1962 and resided in Glen Head, Long Island before settling in Millington, New Jersey in 1971 where they raised their family. Harry was a volunteer for many years with the Boy Scout Troop 56 of Millington.

Mr. Levy worked as an Electrical Supervisor for Ciba Geigy (now known as Novartis) in Summit for over thirty years. His dedication to serving didn’t end with his military discharge, he was a founding member of the Garden State Canoe Club and a volunteer canoe and sailing instructor for the Red Cross. He also served as a volunteer for the FEMA Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) for Long Hill Township. Harry served as a trustee for the Long Hill Township Library and was known for his commitment to community service. While in Bridgewater, Harry also volunteered with the Green Knoll Rescue Squad for a time.

As a mostly self-taught master craftsman, he loved performing advanced home renovations and could repair just about anything: from plumbing to electrical repairs, from carpentry to auto mechanics and locksmithing, there was nothing he couldn’t build or repair with his hands. His tool collection was like Noah’s Ark—he had two of everything.

Harry was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed camping and the quality time spent with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia Levy, his loving children Mary Alice Landau and her husband Stephan and Bill Levy, his cherished grandchildren Daniel Landau and wife Brenda, Abby Medina and husband Jesus, Ruth Lica and husband Dionis, and Dov Landau and wife Skye, his adored great-grandchildren, Esther, Ellie, and Leopold, as well as his extended family.
