Gordon W. Ferry

Gordon W. Ferry, 68, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in New Brunswick to the late William and Elfrida Ferry, Gordon grew up in East Brunswick and graduated from East Brunswick High School. He then attended Teterboro School of Aeronautics before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force.

Gordon worked as a Lab Technician for Union Carbide in Somerset, remaining with the company through its transition to Dow Chemical. He met his beloved wife, Cheryl, on a blind date in 1980, and they were approaching their 42nd wedding anniversary in May. The couple settled in Hillsborough, where they raised their daughter, Heather.

Gordy was an avid fisherman who cherished his time on the water, especially at Farrington Lake. A history enthusiast, he enjoyed watching the History Channel and SciFi network. Gordy had a deep love for movies, effortlessly recalling the names of actors, and was passionate about music, being a drummer himself. His dedication to the New York Giants was unwavering, win or lose, and the New York Yankees also held a special place in his heart. Known as a gentle giant, Gordy treasured the quality time spent at home with his family and valued their bond deeply. His fascination with Vikings and Viking culture was so profound that he and his best friend had matching Viking names, with Gordy's being "Gornar." Gordon was a selfless, simple man with a quiet smile and a remarkable sense of humor, delivering one-liners that could light up a room. He was a true-blue gentleman who will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Glenn Ferry and Heidi Bialek. He is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl, his cherished daughter Heather and her husband Harry, as well as his extended family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 3:00 PM at Cusick Funeral Home, located at 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
