Gerard “Jerry” Rider

Gerard “Jerry” Rider, age 54, went to his eternal rest on March 7, 2016. Born in Jersey City to Gloria (Faber) and Jerry Rider, he grew up in Maywood, married his loving wife Annmarie Brennan in 1983, moved to Somerville and raised 3 sons - Jerry, Chris and Matt.

He was a proud Journeyman in IBEW Local Union 164 since the age of 18. He was an innovative boy scout leader and avid outdoorsman. He was generous, kind and quick-witted. He had an adventurous nature which forged lasting memories in everyone he touched.

In addition to his parents, wife and children, he is survived by his four sisters and their spouses - Linda & Chris Romeo, Christine & John Shultis, Stephanie & Bob Streletz and Marion & Russell McLean. He left a large and loving extended family including his nieces and nephews – Jessica, Samantha, Jackie, Mark and Rider.

Visiting hours will be on Monday March 14th at 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Cusick Funeral Home 80 Mountain Ave Somerville, NJ.

His funeral mass will be held on Tuesday March 15th at 10:30am at Immaculate Conception Church 35 Mountain Ave Somerville, NJ.

His legacy is one of generosity, laughter and a heart the size of the moon. In his memory, please show kindness to others and be generous with your time, resources and spirit in your everyday life.
