George F. Velcheck entered eternal rest on October 1st at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Velcheck was born and raised in Bound Brook before moving to Bridgewater, where he resided for most of his life. He later moved to Edgemere, MD for several years before finally moving to Manahawkin, NJ in 1996. He began his career in welding in 1956 with AIRCO, Murray Hill, and continued there in the research and development department until his retirement in 1983. From 1984 until 1992 he worked for ESAB, a training school for distributors, in Allentown, PA.

Mr. Velcheck was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His Albert Drive family in Manahawkin included a long list of very close friends and fond memories. It was here that he enjoyed life as an avid fisherman who loved boating, crabbing, and living by the water. He was also known for his green thumb and was often called upon as the neighborhood Mr. Fix-it.

Surviving are his wife Jozette, his daughter Lori Lipari, husband Anthony and loving grandchildren A.J. and Kelley of Bridgewater. Also surviving are his daughter Denise, his son James, 4 additional grandchildren and a sister, Alice Mignella. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers Ann, Margaret, Mary, Frank, Hilary and Joseph.

Visiting hours will begin on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 and concluding Memorial Services at 1:00 at the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Meridian Hospice of Ocean County, 1140 Route 72 West, Manahawkin,NJ 08050
