George R. Sheats, age 75, life long resident of Somerville passed peacefully on August 30th, 2015.

George was a graduate of Somerville High School Class of 1959. George proudly served his country through US Air Force from November 1959 – October 1963, He has been a member of West End Hose Co. No. 3 (Somerville Fire Department) for over 50 years, and served the First United Methodist Church of Somerville NJ in many capacities such as Board of Trustees, Head Usher, andmember of the Heavenly Handbell Choir. He was the proud owner of A&S Service Co.,a family electrical contracting business.

In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, the shore, and was an avid NY Yankees fan. He was preceded in death by his loving parents George W. Sheats and Margaret E. Sheats and his sister Eleanor J. Wilbur. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Beverly; his son Glenn, wife Joanne, grandchildren Claire and Allison; his daughter Gayle Hedin, husband Christopher, grandchildren Melissa and Ian; and his son Gregg, wife Theresa, grandchildren Alexandria, Timothy,Francesca, Austin and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave , Somerville on Wednesday, September 2nd from 2-4 PM, and 6-9 PM with a Firemen Service at 7pm. A Funeral Service will be held 10am on Thursday, September 3rd at First United Methodist Church, 48 West High St, Somerville followed by interment at Newell Cemetery, Readington NJ (Stanton NJ).

His family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to West End Hose Co. No. 3, First United Methodist Church or RWJ at Somerset Hospice.
