Genevieve Theresa Brune

Genevieve T. Brune, 97, of Hillsborough, died peacefully on April 29, 2022. Born in New York City to the late Salvatore and Theresa Ferrara (nee Carr), she was raised in Union City, New Jersey. Like most children of her generation, Genevieve went into the workforce during World War II to help support her family. She went on to marry the late Joseph Brune and settle in East Rutherford where they raised their children. After the loss of her husband, she resided in Texas for fourteen years before returning to New Jersey in 1992 where she lived in Hillsborough. Genevieve was an avid New York Yankee baseball and Notre Dame football fan. She enjoyed time spent watching games and would build her schedule around it. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished the quality time spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Brune in 1980 and her dear sisters, Alice Murphy and Marion Mueller. Surviving are her loving children, Gary Brune and wife Joanne, and JoAnn Brune, her cherished grandchildren, Kevin Brune and wife Mikayla and Alex Brune, as well as her extended family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a memorial visitation from 1:00 to 5:00PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville with a prayer service to be held at 4:30PM.
