Gardley Beau Glaser, 80, lifelong resident of Somerville, died peacefully on July 8, 2022. Born in Somerville in December of 1941, Gardley Glaser was the only son of Mr. Charles Edward Glaser and his wife Petrena Robinson Glaser. Gardley attended Somerville schools when it was one building for grammar and middle school, and went on to graduate from Somerville High School, Class of 1959. On August 30, 1967, Mr. Glaser started working for Central Railroad of New Jersey as a clerical worker. This began his career and passion for the railroad system. On the first day of 1972, Mr. Glaser became a Switching Tower Operator and Draw Bridge Operator. In 1976 Central Railroad merged and became ConRail, and Gardley stayed with the company through their acquisition by New Jersey Transit. He devoted himself to his career and was attentive and reliable. Gardley was an expert on trains and their conduction. He was able to identify and document paths, equipment, and maintained the safety of the rail throughout his career. Gardley enjoyed model trains. He was a member of the Model Train Club Hudson of Delaware and Ohio out of Union, NJ and had an extensive collection. Gardley joins his parents Charles and Petrena Glaser in heaven. He leaves behind his closest friend and caregiver, Ernie Smith, his friend and pastor Rev. Gary Cook, and his close friend Dale R. Winget. Funeral services will begin with a prayer starting at 10:00AM on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Garretson Road Church of Christ, 570 Garretson Rd, Bridgewater Township, NJ 08807. Interment will follow at New Cemetery, South Bridge Street, Somerville.
