Freda Josifovich, 93, died on August 26, 2026.

Born and raised on a farm in Baptistown, New Jersey, Freda eventually made her home in Somerville in 1958, where she raised her family.

She began her working life on the farm and later worked as a waitress. It was during this time that she met her beloved husband, Traiko Josifovich. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Somerville, where they built their life together and raised their two children.

Freda and Traiko worked side by side in the restaurant business for many years. Freda ultimately left the demanding restaurant world to raise her family and work as a lab technician at Johnson & Johnson, where she remained for 28 years.

Freda possessed a strong fighting spirit and a generous heart. She was someone who could be counted on, always willing to lend a hand and care for the people around her. Freda was known for her strong work ethic and determination, qualities that remained a defining part of her character throughout her life. She was a kind and giving woman who believed in helping others and showing her love through acts of service. She was a member of the Oak Summit Historical Society supporting the preservation and history of a one-room schoolhouse once a key part of a rural, farming community in Hunterdon County.

She also enjoyed gardening, wood-working, and a nice meal. She appreciated the simple pleasures that made everyday life meaningful including a good conversation over coffee, telling stories of days past, and an occasional ice cream sundae with strawberry sauce.

Freda will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and unwavering work ethic. She lived her life with determination and purpose, leaving behind the example of a woman who worked hard, loved deeply, and gave freely of herself to those she cared for. Her strong spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Freda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Traiko Josifovich, in 1994 and also her parents, brothers, and sister.

She is survived by her children, Diane Josifovich of New Jersey and Dennis Josifovich of Arizona, and loving nephews, nieces, and their families and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Visitation will continue from 6:00 to 8:00PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at the funeral home. Followed by an 11:00AM Funeral Service at Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 300 Union Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876.

Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
