Francesco "Frank" Federico passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 9 at the age of 86. He was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School in 1951. After high school, Frank served in the Unite States Air Force. After his enlistment, Frank was able to pursue his dream of becoming a professional Baseball Umpire. He worked in the minor leagues for 3 years then met and married the love of his life, June Bordwick Federico and settled in Somerville where they raised their three children. He was employed for Johns-Manville for over 25 years. A devoted Catholic, Frank was a member of the choir and a Eucharistic Minister at the Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville.

​Frank and June retired to Long Beach Island in 1999 and thoroughly enjoyed the Island life together. Whether eating at their favorite restaurants, Scojo's or Uncle Will's Pancake House, volunteering at the Beach Haven Community Arts Program, belonging to the Manahawkin Italian American Club or listening to Sinatra and Pavarotti all who ever met them knew they were blessed with each other. Retirement never interfered with spending time with his grandchildren or getting together with the Federico family and good food, those were his favorite pastimes. Frank also enjoyed arguing politics with his brothers and sisters as long as they knew "he was right and they were wrong".

He loved to ride his bike around Beach Haven, sitting on his front porch and telling stories beginning with his favorite line, "Who would've ever thought I'd have it this good". He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, June Bordwick Federico and his brother Jerry Federico. Surviving are his three children Stephen, Maria and William Federico and five grandchildren Daniel, Cameron, Paige, Hope and Andie. Also surviving are his siblings Joseph and Steve Federico, Rose Cuminskey, Theresa Manfredi and Nancy Giuliano.

Visiting hours from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, February 14, at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30am on Thursday, February 15, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Mountain Ave., Somerville. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater.
