Erica Marwa Marie

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Erica Marwa Marie, who left us on October 18, 2023. She was 34 years young.

The brightest light and shining star, Erica Marwa was the most unique and remarkable individual who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was so full of life, with big dreams and so much ahead of her. She has the most beautiful voice and was actively recording an album, with aspirations of becoming a singer and performing artist.

But she was already an artist, she was colorful, creative, fearless, BOLD, and unapologetically herself, a trait we all admired endlessly.

She was born on May 23, 1989, and grew up in Flemington, NJ where she developed an incredible resilience, strength, and nurturing for those around her.

Erica Marwa was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, and friend. She had a way of making everyone feel valued and appreciated. Her infectious smile, warmth, and wild spirit made her a beacon of light in our lives. Fuzzy slippers, lots of glitter, impeccable outfits, and nails and hair were always done to perfection, she made us laugh endlessly with her style and presence.

Throughout her life, Erica was a caretaker to her mother, where she worked tirelessly to ensure her well-being, putting so many of her own dreams on hold to fulfill that job.

Her untimely departure leaves a void that cannot be filled.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her cats Chrissy and Candy, writing and recording her music, making art, cooking, and taking a million selfies. Music, photography, love, pasta, and family were her whole life. She had an insatiable curiosity for the world around her and her passions brought so much joy to her life and those around her.

Erica Marwa is survived by her mother Sharon, her father Atef, her older sister Ashley, her younger brother Soliman, and her younger beloved agnate siblings, Sarah, Yousef, and Taha, as well as her extended family filled with loving uncles, aunts, cousins and her grandparents.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation from 4:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Catholic religious funeral services and special remarks will begin promptly at 7:00PM at the funeral home.

Special prayer services will be held at 12:45pm on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Islamic Society of Basking Ridge 124 Church St, Basking Ridge. Prayer will begin promptly at 1:00pm. Family may begin gathering at the funeral home at 12:00 PM.

Burial service will follow at The New Cemetery, 192 South Bridge Street, Somerville.

We find solace in the memories we shared with Erica Marwa Marie, and in the knowledge that her legacy will live on in our hearts forever. She will be remembered for her kindness, her vibrant personality, her laughter, her music, her strength, and the love she bestowed upon us.

Rest in peace, dear Erica. Your light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
