Emanuel "Ned" Licitra

November 20, 1929 — December 27, 2022

Emanuel “Ned” Licitra, 93, died peacefully on December 27, 2022 at his home in Boca Raton, Florida.


Ned was born in 1929, in New York City to the late Salvatore and Santa Licitra. In the early 1930’s his parents took the family back to their home in Sicily where Ned resided until the age of 16 when he returned to New York City. After high school and Aeronautical Engineering College he went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.


Upon his return, Ned married the love of his life, Josephine Guastella and lived in Manville until 1977 when they moved to Bridgewater, NJ and resided for 41 years.

Ned began his career at Manville Mason Supply. In the mid 1970’s he started Personal Realty, his private property development company. Ned loved to build and was a successful developer of custom homes, warehouses, retail buildings and shopping centers throughout Somerset County until he finally decided to retire in his late 80’s.

Ned was very active with the Kiwanis Club, serving as President for three years and was a Past President of the Board of Manville National Bank. Mr. Licitra was a communicant of The Church of The Immaculate Conception in Somerville where he served as an usher for many years.


Ned enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He especially enjoyed playing Backgammon, golf and a good card game, from playing poker with his dad and brothers to playing Gin Rummy with his friends, children and grandchildren. Ned was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine in 2016 and his siblings, Joseph, Angelo, and Sister Jenny Licitra.

Surviving are his loving daughters, Eileen Licitra , Karen Dakers and husband Richard, and Linda Waters and husband Michael, , his cherished grandchildren Jacqueline and husband John, Kevin and wife Valentina, Brandon, and Kelly and fiancé Michael, his adored great-grandchildren Ava, Arianna, and Nicholas, and his dear twin sister Mary Marchello.


Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00PM on Sunday, January 8, 2022 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday, January 9, 2022 at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM.


Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery Mausoleum, Bridgewater.
