Elizabeth H. Taylor passed away at the age of 101 on Friday, September 22. "Betty" to everyone who knew her, lived in Somerville from her marriage in 1935 to 2005 when she moved to Arbor Glen in Bridgewater.

Years ago she was very active in the Somerset Hospital Women's Auxiliary Board, serving as president in the 1950's. The gift shop in what is now RWJ at Somerset was a major project at the time.. Also serving in the Somerville Civic League in the 50's and 60's. During WW II she and her dear friend Ruth Schoonmaker served with the American Red Cross. An avid Bridge player, she was always organizing Bridge Clubs at her home and in Arbor Glen. Born in Philadelphia, she met her future husband, George F. Taylor Sr. in Wildwood, NJ and they married in 1955. The family have been summer dwellers in Ocean City since 1946. She was a member of the United Reformed Church in Somerville since 1938.

She is survived by her younger sister Edith Winkler and husband Carl of Vero Beach, Fl. and her son, Rev. David Taylor and his wife Joan of Neshanic Station,NJ. Her beloved grandchildren Laura Perry and husband Michael, Lynn Taylor and Leigh Talucci and her husband Michael of PA., Pamela Taylor Hallinan and husband Joe of Chicago and Jeffrey Taylor and his wife Darcy of Frenchtown,NJ. Great grandchildren Elizabeth Perry, Stephanie Talucci, John Taylor Hallinan, Katie Hallinan and twin sister Annie Hallinan and Evelyn (EV) Taylor and her daughter -in-law Jean Taylor of Vero Beach, FL.

Surviving a great loss over the years but showing great strength, Betty has been an inspiration to all who knew her. Widowed in 1976, she also lost her son George F. Taylor III in 2010.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 27, at 9am and conclude with a Funeral Service at 11am at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. Interment to follow at the New Cemetery, South Bridge Street, Somerville.
