Elizabeth Sabosik, born March 28, 1952, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2025 leaving behind a lifetime of memories cherished by her family and loved ones.
Elizabeth was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Sabosik and grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings, George Aloysius Sabosik Jr., Patricia, and her late sister, Lexa, who passed away in 2015. The family owned and operated Durham’s Baskets, a small family business in North Branch, New Jersey, which was an important part of their lives and upbringing.
She attended Immaculata High School in Somerville, New Jersey, and went on to continue her education at St. Elizabeth College in Convent Station, New Jersey.
Elizabeth made her home in Toms River, New Jersey, where she found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She had a deep passion for gardening and raising plants, a reflection of her nurturing spirit and appreciation for growth and beauty. She took great pride in caring for her garden, creating spaces that brought peace and happiness to herself and those around her.
Elizabeth was the loving mother of two daughters, Brooke and Libby, whom she cherished deeply, and the proud grandmother of Anna Pooler, Brynne Pooler, and Ian Gladkowski.
Elizabeth was also a devoted member in good standing of Alcoholics Anonymous, maintaining 30 years of continuous sobriety. Her strength, perseverance, and commitment to recovery were an inspiration to many, and she offered hope and encouragement to those walking a similar path.
She was previously married to Leonard Gladkowski.
She is survived by her children, Brooke and Libby; her grandchildren, Anna Pooler, Brynne Pooler, and Ian Gladkowski; her brother, George Aloysius Sabosik Jr.; and her sister, Patricia. She is reunited in peace with her parents, George and Elizabeth Sabosik, and her sister, Lexa.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her quiet strength, her resilience, her love of nature, and the care she showed to her family. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the beauty she cultivated.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on May 9, 2026, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.
