Elizabeth M. Laverty died Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Mrs. Laverty was born in Newark and resided in Berkeley Heights for most of her life. She retired from the Berkeley Heights Board of Education in 1991 after 20 years as a School Nurse for their Mountain School. A graduate of All Souls Hospital School of Nursing and received her BS Degree in Nursing from Jersey City College. Her husband Thomas died in 1991. Surviving are her daughters Kathleen MacGillivaray (husband Don), Patricia Palczynski (husband John) and Maureen Banks (husband Larry), her sons Michael, Kevin and Timothy Laverty (wife Rose), her siblings David and William Holly and Nancy McWhorter, 3 grandchildren Heather, Erin and James and a great grandaughter Rylee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon on Friday, June 1 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Park. Visiting hours on Thursday, May 31 from 6pm to 9pm and on Friday, June 1 from 10:30am to 11:30am at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville.
