Elizabeth "Betty" C. Esposito

December 23, 1938 — March 3, 2023

Elizabeth C. Esposito, "Betty", 84, departed peacefully from this earth while at home surrounded by the love of her family on March 3, 2023.

Born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Frank and Elizabeth Cauchi (nee Siska), she was raised in Manhattan and the Bronx and was a graduate of Washington Irving High School. As a dedicated young Roman Catholic, Betty chose Saint Frances Cabrini, who is the patron saint of immigrants. Saint Frances Cabrini was also known for establishing many schools in New York and abroad. Betty would later go on to help many immigrants as an educator, translator, and counselor. Betty went on to attend Rutgers University and Saint Elizabeth University for her undergraduate studies and began her career in education. She met and married the love of her life, the late George Esposito, Esq. In 1962 Betty was selected by competition under auspices of the U.S. Department of state in conjunction with Rutgers University and the University System of Argentina for the "Good Will Ambassador to Argentina via U.S. Department of State Scholarship". The following year she and her husband George settled in Bridgewater, NJ where they raised their family. Betty left teaching to raise her two children, Charles and Lisa, and returned once her children were settled in school. Unprecedented for her time, she went on to receive her master’s degree in Counseling and Personnel and was a graduate of the Latin American Institute in Manhattan where she studied in Spanish and Portuguese.

Her passion for helping others led her to become a Licensed Clinical Professional. She obtained her Educational Leadership and Policy (EdS) degree and credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Betty loved her family more than anything on earth, interrupting her career and educational studies to prioritize them, always. She achieved her goals all while devoting herself as a full-time teacher, then bilingual guidance counselor and raising her children with love. Betty's devotion to service and giving the best of her professionalism led her to continue her studies to receive her PhD in Counseling and Psychology. During the years that followed, she continued her education and training with the Albert Ellis Clinic for Rational Emotional Therapy, earning a practitioner certification. She also continued with NLP training, Conflict Resolution Training, (Somerset Police Academy), and had attended many other training seminars related to Cross Cultural studies, World Language and Gender Equity in Education. However, she stepped away from her studies to devote herself to her beloved husband George when he became ill with terminal cancer. Her selflessness was shown as she nursed her parents and husband in their illness. She was a young widow while putting her two children through college and working full-time. Betty considered her profession more than work; it was a vocation. She committed to helping and caring for others, for many years, often providing free assistance and counseling to those in need out of the goodness of her heart. She was loved and cherished by all whose lives she touched through her kind, compassionate, and generous nature.

Betty picked up painting as a hobby, and like most things she took on, became a true master. She loved to paint landscapes, florals, and portraits. Her mediums were diverse in acrylics and oils and trained in the Bob Ross method of painting. Her art was gifted with love and are priceless treasures to those who received them. For a time, she also displayed her artistic skills in pottery eventually obtaining her own pottery wheel and kiln. Betty was best known for being a compassionate and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was just as beautiful on the outside as in. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George B. Esposito, Esq in 1990. Surviving are her loving children, Charles Esposito and wife Maria Elena and Elizabeth (Lisa) Caruso and husband Joe, her cherished grandchildren, Hillary Esposito, George Esposito, Luke Caruso, and Matthew Caruso, as well as her dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
