Eleanor M. Jackowski, 97, died peacefully on August 21,2026.

Eleanor was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She eventually relocated and made her home in Somerville, where she lived for 50 years. Eleanor obtained her Associates Degree from Raritan Valley Community College. She worked as a secretary at the Star-Ledger before joining RCA in Harrison and later followed the company to Raritan, New Jersey. She eventually began her lifelong career with Ethicon, where she worked as a product label designer before retiring.

She was an active and valued member of her community and The Church of the Immaculate Conception and generously volunteered with the Diabetes Association.

Eleanor was an independent, curious, and adventurous woman who never stopped experiencing the world around her. She traveled extensively, visiting China, Russia, and India, and along the way made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. She was always finding another place to explore and another experience to enjoy.

She was also someone who appreciated the simple pleasures in life. Eleanor loved a good book, crossword puzzles, and word games. In her later years, she became a resident of Sunrise Senior Living in Bridgewater where she remained very active and involved. She enjoyed participating in activities, making friends, and staying engaged with the people and world around her.

Eleanor will be remembered for her independence, adventurous spirit, love of learning and travel, and the many friendships and family connections she carried with her throughout her long and remarkable life. Her curiosity and strength will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved cousins, Patricia Mackay (Al) of Richmond, Virginia, and Deborah Nowakowski, as well as many other loving cousins and cherished friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 143 Eastern Avenue, Somerville.
