Eleanor "Dolly" Mikrut

February 27, 1946 — December 17, 2022

Eleanor “Dolly” Mikrut, 76, died peacefully on December 17, 2022, at Green Knoll Care Center in Bridgewater, New Jersey.


She was born in Messmore, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Anna Hranec. Dolly graduated high school from German Township High School in 1962.


After graduation, she married the love of her life, Henry Mikrut, and the two settled in Raritan, New Jersey to raise their family. Dolly began her healthcare career at Somerset Medical Center, starting as a nurses aide, ultimately through hard work and dedication, achieving a Masters of Science in Nursing, (Nurse Practitioner).


She had a well-respected nursing career, with numerous nursing positions, retiring from Somerset Medical Center as the Director of the Hospice program. She was a nursing instructor at Somerset County Votech, where she was praised for her ability to assure her students passed their state nursing boards. Most recently, she was a Nurse Practitioner with Ramzy Psychiatric Group in Skillman, NJ. She was devoted to providing compassionate care to patients and their families, and worked countless hours taking care of others.


The Mikruts enjoyed spending time at their lake house in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania. Dolly enjoyed being surrounded by nature, which was a source of serenity for her. She spent her free time reading and quilting. She also enjoyed spending time with her three English bulldogs whom she loved dearly. Dolly loved her family and cherished the quality time they spent together.


She was preceded in death by her brother, John Hranec, and sister, Margaret Granchi.


Surviving are her beloved husband of 59 years, Henry Mikrut, her loving children, son Henry Mikrut Jr. and wife Blanche, daughter Monica Pongrancz and husband Daniel, and son Joseph Mikrut, her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister Joan Liston, as well as many nieces and nephews.
