Eileen V Bengivenga, age 94, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2014. Predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Carlo Bengivenga, and her daughter, Carole Bengivenga Brandt. Eileen and Carlo were residents of Raritan for 50 years. Carlo and Eileen owned and operated Raritan Brake and Wheel Service on the corner of Route 202 and First Avenue. Eileen and her husband wintered in Florida for more than 25 years, recently becoming full time residents. Eileen was a Matron of Honor with the Eastern Star in New Jersey and was also active with the Eastern Star in Florida. Eileen was also a Daughter of the Nile in Florida and New Jersey. Eileen and Carlo raised two daughters, Carole Bengivenga Brandt and Mary Bengivenga Huddy. Carole passed away in 1961, leaving an infant, Carla Brandt, whom Carlo and Eileen raised and adopted as their daughter. Eileen enjoyed sailing, ballroom dancing, sewing, camping, cruises, playing cards and entertaining at her home. Eileen was a quiet matriarch who taught love and forgiveness with a gentle hand.
Surviving are daughters Mary Bengivenga Huddy and Carla Brandt Manney, grandchildren Celeste Huddy Burgos, Christopher Huddy and Corinne Huddy Felice, great grandchildren Olivia Huddy, Emily Huddy and Vincent Felice.
A gravesite Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Noon at St Bernard’s Cemetery in Bridgewater.. Eileen’s cremains will be buried with her husband’s cremains.
