Edward J. Fialka, 94, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Born in Somerville, NJ, the son of Edward J. Fialka, Sr., and Emma Nuss Fialka, he proudly served his country in the 45th Division Medical Detachment of the 180th Battalion in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in direct support of combat operations in Italy, France, and Germany during WWII.

For 43 years he worked as a plant supervisor at Sherwin Williams in Bound Brook and in Newark. He was an avid angler and talented gardener.

Mr. Fialka is survived by his daughter Barbara Anne and two granddaughters Jennifer Bryn and Laura Beth, grandsons-in-law Joe Candela and Randy Goble, two sisters Jean Gordon and Millicent Kraft, a brother John Fialka, many nieces and nephews, and his faithful Maddie Magee.

He is predeceased by his loving wife Lucille Tignor Fialka, sisters Elizabeth Nelson and Mildred Merski, and brothers Albert and Alan Fialka.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, June 12, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. A 10am Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 13 at St. Joseph's Church, 16 East Somerset Street, Raritan, NJ. Interment to follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Mt. Airy Rd., Basking Ridge.
