Dr. Angela Katherine Bodino, 84, died peacefully in her home on Jan 9 ,2025.
Angela was born in Jackson Heights, NY on June 17, 1940 and grew up in Bayonne, NJ. She was the only daughter of Pauline and Odysseus Adamides. As a child her talent for acting and singing led her to perform on Broadway in the Play Lets Make and Opera and on TV in an early Sitcom named Mister Peepers. Angela graduated from Barnard college in 1962 and then began her career as an English teacher at Saint Aloysisus Academy in Jersey City.
From there she moved to Cranford Highschool where she met the love of her life Vincent (Bud) Bodino, who she married in 1967. She moved to Bridgewater in 1968 where she raised two sons and was an English Professor at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) for over 30 years until her retirement in 2016 . In her time at RVCC Angela received her Doctorate in Education from Rutgers and was awarded the Carnegie professor of the year in 1998. That same year she co-edited a textbook addressing the topic of “Global Patterns of Racism” which was also the theme of a course she co-developed and taught at the college.
Angela was a wife, mom, grandmother, academic and artistic talent rolled into one. She was passionate about teaching, especially writing, and was always willing to give her time to those in need. As the granddaughter of Greek immigrants who did not have a formal education, she saw education and an imagining mind as part of the American Dream. Throughout her life Angela demonstrated for what she believed was fair. She carried a fiery empathy, consistently striving through her actions to uplift the less fortunate and those she saw as the “underdogs”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Bodino and older Brother Alexander Adamides.
Angela is survived by her two sons Matthew and Mark, daughter-in-law Josie, grandchildren James and Alex , brother, Odysseus Adamides, nephews, Paul Adamides, Eddie Adamides , niece Katie Adamides and a number of cousins and other extended family.
