Donald J. Streepy, husband of 55 wonderful years to his loving wife and life long friend, the late Dorothy Streepy, died Saturday, October 27, at home.
Mr. Streepy was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA., lived briefly in Bound Brook, before moving to Somerville in 1962. He retired in 1989 after almost 40 years from AT&T Bell Labs where he worked as a technician in their Lightwave Development Division. After retirement, Mr. Streepy became a Licensed Real Estate Broker for McLachlan Realtors in Somerville for almost 20 years. He served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 12 in Somerville,the Martinsville VFW Post 6588 and served faithfully with the Somerville First Aid & Rescue Squad for many years, where he also served as Captain.
His love of sports was obvious to all who knew him, as an avid NJ Devils Hockey fan, as well as loved watching the NY Giants and Rutgers football games with his grandson.
Surviving are his devoted daughter Cindy Streepy of Somerville, a loving grandson Keith Kavanaugh, (known as "buddy" to his Pop), a freshman at James Madison University, VA, whom he was so proud of, and a companion for many years, his loyal puppy, Gia. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Streepy was predeceased by his 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral Service will be held 11am on Friday, November 2 at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Mausoleum, Piscataway. Visiting hours from 2-4pm & 7-9pm on Thursday, November 1 at the funeral home.
