Diana Braun

December 3, 1929 — July 25, 2024

Diana Braun (née Dino), died peacefully on July 25, 2024.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.

Born in Roselle Park, NJ and raised in Bound Brook, NJ, Diana was the daughter of the late Charles (Carmelo) and Mary (Maria Minneci) Dino. Upon graduating from Bound Brook High School in 1947, Diana began her career at Union Carbide in her hometown. She was an office manager at Union Carbide when she met her future husband, Walter R. Braun. Their enduring love story spanned 62 years of marriage, a testament to their deep bond and shared life journey.

In 1957, Diana and Walter moved to Weathersfield, CT, where they lived for 14 years before moving to Mt. Prospect, IL for 3 years, and finally settling in Bridgewater, NJ in 1974. It was here that they created a home brimming with love, laughter, and a sprawling garden that became a labor of their joint passion. Diana and Walter loved to travel, exploring destinations around the world, which included virtually every continent. They loved cruising, taking numerous trips from New York to Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, Bermuda, and various European destinations. A favorite country of hers was Italy, where she felt a deep connection to her roots. Diana and Walter both enjoyed gambling in Atlantic City, NJ, playing the nickel poker machines.

Diana was a masterful cook, known for her homemade raviolis, which she enjoyed making with her mother, and her legendary tomato sauce, which she made in generous batches. Her kitchen was always alive with the aromas of her cooking, a reflection of her warmth and generosity. She found joy in sharing these culinary creations with her family, particularly during the festive Christmas season, where she hosted a Christmas Eve party every year. Her home became a hub of celebration, adorned with hundreds of Christmas cookies, and filled with the cheer of family gatherings. Diana was always the life of the party!

As a grandmother, Diana was a beacon of support and love, never missing a moment of her grandchildren’s lives. She was always there to pick them up from daycare, to host summer visits, and to be present at every important event. Diana’s ability to win at Rummy 500 was a point of playful pride within the family.

Diana’s nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She was a natural caregiver, dedicating herself to caring for her husband, Walter, during his seven-year-long illness. Her strength and compassion were a source of comfort to all who knew her.

Diana was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter; her brother Jimmy (Vincent) Dino; and her sisters Rose Connolly and Mary Mizov. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her son, Walt Braun and his wife Janet; daughter Linda, and her husband Jack Van Sciver. Diana’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jeff, Nicole (Pat) Saulino, and Grace Van Sciver. She is also survived by her dear family members who cherish her memory.

Diana had a mind of her own and expressed her opinions throughout her entire life. Until the very end she lived life the way she wanted. Diana’s laughter, love, and the countless memories she created with her family and friends will forever remain in our hearts!
