Daryl M. Winkels, 63, died February 21. Daryl was born in Somerville where he graduated from Somerville High School and was a life long resident. He retired after more than 20 years as a Furnace, Boiler and Air Conditioner Engineer from Alcoa in Dover, NJ.

Daryl served in the U.S. Army from 1977 until Honorably Discharged in 1981 and was a Proud Member of the American Legion Post 12 of Somerville. He enjoyed NASCAR and was the biggest fan of Rutgers University Sports.

Surviving are his siblings Ronald Winkels of Somerville and Jamesine VanderPluym, her husband Frederick, of Greensboro, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting will begin at 3:30pm on Saturday, February 27, at the American Legion Post 12, 232 Union Ave., Somerville and conclude with Military Honors at 4pm at the Legion.

​In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daryl's name to the American Legion Post 12.
