Colleen Soriano Jijak, age 46, of Branchburg, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Paul Jijak and caring mother of Maximillian.
Colleen was born in Davao City, Philippines. She was the daughter of Rolando and Aida (Yasay) Soriano. Colleen worked at Bed Bath & Beyond where she met her husband. Besides her husband, Paul, her parents, Rolando and Aida, her son, Maximillian, Colleen leaves her sister and brother-in-law, Orel and Lu Bautista, and brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Lanlen Soriano. Colleen also leaves behind her beloved niece and nephew, Isabella and Noah, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Since Colleen and her husband had their son, she devoted her life as a full-time wife and mother and part-time gym enthusiast and runner. She also cherished spending summer vacations at beach towns with her husband and son. Always known for her smile and laughter, many were drawn to become friends with Colleen wherever she graced her presence, from college, to work, to her son's school and even to her local gym.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 9:30am in Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville, NJ.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 24th and Friday, September 25th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to establish a fund for Maximillian's education which is very important to Colleen and may be sent to 106 Hill Top Lane, Neshanic Station, NJ 08853.
