Claire A. Mandeville, 95, died peacefully on January 21, 2023.
Born in Newark to the late John and Genevieve Mandeville (nee Kennedy). Her family settled to Flagtown when she was thirteen. Claire was a graduate of Somerville High School where she was able to showcase her beautiful soprano voice and love of singing. She went on to work at Deal in Finderne before taking a position in the print room at John’s Manville. There, she held many business administration positions and stayed with the company until John’s Manville relocated to Denver, Colorado. She then worked at Thomas & Betts Corporation as a receptionist until her retirement at the age of 67.
Claire raised her son in Flagtown and was active in many local choral groups, including John’s Manville Choir, Immaculate Conception Choral Group, and local renditions of off-Broadway shows. Her beautiful voice was heard at weddings, receptions, and events for many years; and she enjoyed every chance she got to share it. In 2004, she moved to Florida to be closer to get away from the harsh winters. She enjoyed knitting and spending quality time with her family.
She was welcomed to heaven by her parents, all her siblings, friends, and choir friends who were waiting for their soprano to join them.
Surviving are her loving son, Brian Mandeville and wife Donna, her cherished granddaughter Melissa Chamberlain and husband Brian, and her dear great grandchildren, Amelia and Nathan.
