IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher James
Bond
November 3, 1943 – February 10, 2026
Christopher James Bond, 82, died peacefully on February 10, 2026.
Born on November 3, 1943 and raised in Chicago, Illinois as one of three brothers to the late Harry and Genevieve Bond (nee Burgess), he was a graduate of Foreman High School. The Bond family then moved to New Jersey where Christopher, affectionately known as Kit in his family, began his academic career at Rutgers University. Christopher then served his country as a junior officer during the Vietnam War in the United States Army.
After his honorable discharge, he continued his graduate degree obtaining his PhD in English. While in graduate school, he met the love of his life, Barbara Mutschler, and the two were married in 1972. The couple lived in New Brunswick until moving to South Plainfield in 1980 and immediately started a family there with the birth of their only son, David. Christopher worked for Middlesex County as a Criminal Justice Planner throughout his career, and occasionally taught criminal justice and creative writing at Middlesex County College.
Christopher retired in 1998 and he and his wife relocated to Phillipsburg, NJ, where they enjoyed their time at home and eventually spending quality time with their grandchildren. Known for his tall stature and gentle demeanor, he had a wide range of personal interests. He loved playing piano throughout his life, enjoyed model railroading both at home and in various clubs with friends, and was an avid tennis player. He and his wife also enjoyed the company of their Siamese cats throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his elder brother, Jeffrey Bond, and Jeffrey’s daughter, Cheryl Bond.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Barbara Bond; his loving son, David Bond; his daughter-in-law, Michelle; his cherished grandchildren, Sebastian and Alyssa; his dear brother Carey and sister-in-law Marcia; his sister-in-law, Barbara Bond; and his nieces Laurel, Lana, and Melanie.
