Charles "Rich" Shanahan, 67, passed away on July 11th at RWJ Somerset Medical Center. He was predeceased by his mother, Gladys Darcy, and father, Charles "Dick" Shanahan. Rich is survived by a brother, Kevin and his wife Ginny of Flemington, NJ, and a sister, Kathleen, of Lindenhurst, IL; his nephews, Kevin Shanahan, Timothy Shanahan, Zachary Slade, and Scott Slade; his nieces, Laura Ricketts (husband, Chris), Katherine Metzler (husband, Leigh), Shanah Slade, and Molly Shanahan. He will also be missed by his grand nieces and nephews Ceili, Gabriel, Benjamin, and Noah Ricketts.

While working as a salesmen in the family business, Rich spent time serving the community as Captain of the Green Knoll Rescue Squad for a number of years. Rich was also president of the Central New Jersey Corvette Club, helping to raise funds for the Matheny School. An avid car buff, Rich enjoyed spending time with friends at the various "Cruise Nights" and car shows throughout the area.

Visiting hours will be at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, NJ,from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington NJ, on Thursday, July 16, at l0:00 a.m..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Matheny School, 65 Highland Avenue, Peapack, NJ 07977.
