Charles E. Field Jr., husband of the late Thelma Field, died September 10, 2012. Mr. Field was a life long resident of Somerville. He retired in 1996 after more than 25 years as a supervisor in the maintenance department for the Somerville Board of Education. A Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal in US Army, Mr. Field was also a member of St. Thomas AME Zion Church of Somerville where he served faithfully as a member of the Board of Trustees and recently due to illness as a Trustee Emeritus. He was a Past Master Mason of AB Cooper Sr. Lodge #69. Surviving are his son, George Field of Lumberton three daughters Martha Field of Somerville and Deborah Field of Gamrills, MD. and Carol Gastons of Richmond, CA. and his siblings Mabel Swan, William (Carol) and David (Gwen) Field. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and loving companion Marjorie Wright. Visiting hours are from 7pm-9pm on Friday, September 14 at St. Thomas AME Zion Church, 75 Davenport St., Somerville. Funeral Service will be held 9am on Saturday, September 15 at the Church with an interment to follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
