Carolyn Hutzler

​Carolyn, who was fondly called “Mima”, by her grandchild, departed her loving family on January 18, 2021.

She was born in Raritan, NJ on January 5, 1938 to Louis and Jean Schiavi.

Carolyn was mother to Greg Hutzler, Gary Hutzler, and Gail Powelson. She raised her children with love and devotion in Bridgewater with her husband, Fred Hutzler.

As an RN and School Nurse in Readington Township, Carolyn was known for her quick-witted sense of humor, intelligence ( she was a devoted fan of Jeopardy and Alex Trebek), and her love of family especially her 3 grandchildren. Her hobbies include her love of horse racing, crossword puzzles, traveling, and winning big in AC!

She is survived by her 3 children and beloved grandchildren; Greg Hutzler and daughter-in-law, Joan Hutzler, Gary Hutzler, and Gail Powelson. And Bryanna Hutzler, Ethan Powelson and Noah Powelson. Carolyn was the oldest of 3 children, sister Mary Ann Garbarini (deceased), and brother, John Schiavi. She is also survived by her caring sister-in-law, Sandy Schiavi, and brother-in-law, Thomas Garbarini.

Visiting hours will be held 5pm-7pm on Wednesday, January 20, at the Cusick Funeral Home, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, January 21, at the Holy Trinity Church, 60 Maple St., Bridgewater. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater..

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, and/or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation can be made in Carolyn’s name.
