Marilyn Carole Trent, nee Geddis, 88, died suddenly on March 26, 2022. Known best as Carole, she was born in Irvington, New Jersey to the late Kenneth and Marilyn Geddis in 1933 and was raised in Somerville, graduating from Somerville High School in 1951. She went on to attend nursing school at Willmington Hospital graduating in 1954 as a Registered Nurse. Carole met the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Trent and settled on Spring Street in Somerville in 1960, where they raised their family. Mrs. Trent’s career as a RN was that of service to her community and a greater good. She worked at Somerset Medical Center in the Psychiatric Unit and then at Rutgers University Hospital in the Mental Health Department. In 1995 Carole and Jimmy moved to Bethany Beach, Delaware, where she worked at BeeBe Medical Center as a Case Manager until her retirement in 2020. Carole was an active member of the United Reformed Church in Somerville for many years, as well as the Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Delaware where she served as an elder. She was fiercely independent, outgoing, and always looking to take care of others. Carole enjoyed time at church, reading, music, and gardening. She had a natural talent for cooking and baking which her family enjoyed. Most of all, she cherished the quality time spent with her friends, family, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jimmy” Trent in 2020. Surviving are their loving children, Kelly Cooke and husband Dan, Jon Trent and wife Lisa, and Nancy Minoldi and husband Joe, cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Nicholas, and Samantha, as well as a loyal companion, their dog, Barney. Funeral services celebrating both Jimmy and Carole’s lives will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 7,2022, at United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville. Inurnment will follow at New Cemetery, Somerville. Luncheon to follow
