Carol L. DeNero, 90, died peacefully on December 1, 2023. She was born and raised in Montclair to the late Martin and Lois Lynch (nee Copeland). Her father passed away tragically in 1940, leaving her stalwart mother to raise three children. Carol was a graduate of Montclair High School. Several years later she met the love of her life, John M. DeNero. The two were married and settled in Verona.
The DeNeros had nine children who they raised in Verona, Somerville, and Bridgewater. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will always be remembered for her love and humor. In the course of her life Carol found more friends than can be listed. She also had a love for animals, from Kelly her Irish Setter, to her most recent Bichon companions, Finnegan and Babe.
Carol was a talented seamstress who made clothing for her family. She was also a skilled quilter, creating beautiful keepsakes to be enjoyed by family and friends for generations. And not to forget the kitchen, nothing made Carol happier than feeding family and friends. From Sunday feasts to the most simple and wholesome, it was always something to look forward to. Always proud of her heritage, one of her favorite memories was a trip through Ireland in 2008, where she met the family of her father. She was employed at CityFederal Savings and Loan as a Mortgage Administrator from 1982 until retirement.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband John M. DeNero in 2004, her dear son John P. DeNero in 2006, her brother Martin Lynch, and her twin brother Stephen Lynch.
Surviving are her loving children: Martin DeNero and wife Melinda; Ellen Stives and husband Kevin; James DeNero and wife Lisa; Nancy DeNero and husband Bob Painter; Suzanne Florio and husband Ralph; Lisa Dixon and husband Fred; Matthew DeNero and wife Dawn, and Amy Kampschroeder and husband John. Also, her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends.
