Carl Salvato, Sr. died peacefully on April 12, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospice Home in Bethlehem, Pa at the age of 85. He was born on November, 30, 1929 during the Great Depression in New York City to the late Mariannina and Gioacchino Salvato.
His wife, Helen Salvato, died in 2003. He is survived by his son Carl Jr. of Philadelphia, and his son, CJ,; a daughter Donna, her husband Christopher Yannuzzi and their three children Allyssa, Adam and Evan from Forks, PA. Carl is also survived by his twin brother Emanuel, wife and children and his younger brother Jack Daniel, wife and children.
After graduating from Textile High School, Mr. Salvato and his twin brother Manny enlisted in the US Army where they were stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, as part of the 2nd Infantry Division. where the brothers took charge of the units motorized vehicles, because of their background in the automotive and truck business. In 1956, the Salvato family relocated to New Jersey where they established the Colonial Motors In Branchburg. Carl was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Raritian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, April 16, at St. Ann's Church, Anderson St., Raritan, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ. Visiting hours from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Wednesday, April 15, at the Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Ave., Somerville, NJ.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Carl's memory to St. Luke's Hospice House, 2455 Black River Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18015
