Barbara Muriel Bassi, 91, died peacefully on November 19, 2023.
Born in Mountainside to the late Fred and Violet Camp, she was raised in Scotch Plains and was a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.
She worked for an Insurance Agency after high school and was a court stenographer for a short time.
She met the love of her life, Vincent Bassi at an Army dance when she was nineteen, and the two were married two years later. They settled in Bridgewater where they raised their family. She became an active member of the PTA and Girl Scouts in her children’s school. She then went on to attend technical school to train as a medical transcriber. Barbara started her career in medical transcription at Somerset Medical Center, where she retired after dedicating many years. In her retirement, Associated Radiology approached her to work for them, and a decade later she retired again. Somerset Medical Center (RWJ) approached her in her second retirement to work again, and she finally retired, for the third time, at the age of 84. She was a well-respected employee and friend.
Barbara was a proud grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed gardening and the quality time spent with her family. She had enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with her husband, also.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Vincent Bassi, and son-in-law, Edward Carter.
Surviving are her loving children, Carol Klemm and husband George, Debra Carter, Susan Moczydlowski and husband Steven, Lynda Moore and husband David, and Mark Bassi and wife Tracey, her twelve cherished grandchildren, Heather (Christopher), Kristen (Mario), Eric (Alee), Kara, Joseph, Adam, Thomas, Nicole (Nick), Michel, Derek, John (Lauren) and Dennis (Vicky) and twelve great-grandchildren.
