Barbara Jane Allena Kladivko, 94, died peacefully at her home on May 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Somerville August 31, 1928, to the late Paul and Pauline Allena. She was a graduate of Somerville High School Class of 1946. Barbara worked for Johns Manville as a secretary where she met her future husband, Bud Kladivko. The two were married and eventually settled in Bridgewater where they raised their family.
She worked for the Somerset County Office on Aging Nutrition Program as an executive secretary, after working for BK Supply. She was a former resident of Decatur, GA, Coral Gables, Fl, Birmingham, AL, and Cherry Hill, NJ and has been a longtime resident of the Martinsville area of Bridgewater.
Barbara was a devout parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. As a member and former vice-president of their Altar Rosary Society, she loved to bake her special cakes for their bake sales and other church functions. Barbara also cooked meals for low-income parish families. She was strong in her faith and practiced that by helping others. Barbara also volunteered her time at the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and the Martinsville Library.
Barbara enjoyed refinishing unique items found at estate sales and then would attend flea markets where she was able to resell some of her treasures. She loved her children and grandchildren and it showed in everything she did to make their time together memorable, especially the Christmas and 4th of July celebrations. Barbara also spent time enjoying animals, especially her backyard squirrel friend she lovingly named Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud and her son-in-law Francis Migliore.
Surviving are her loving children, Karen Migliore, Karl Kladivko and wife Ana, Beth Mills and husband Maurry, Holly Patetta and husband Frank, her adored grandchildren, Nicholas (Abby), Sarah, Abby (Chad), Laura (Justin), Emily (Eric), and Alex, as well as her three great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed!
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers who lovingly enriched her life over the last few years.
