Anne Cecilia Engelhardt

Anne Cecilia Engelhardt,82, died on May 18, 2023.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, to the late John and Mary Doherty (nee McGonigle), she graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Elizabeth, NJ, in 1958 where she was a cheerleader and a member of the glee club. She met the love of her life, Walter H. Engelhardt, Jr. at St. Mary’s and the two were married in 1966 and settled in Clark, NJ. Anne worked in a stockbroker’s office before the family moved to Bridgewater, NJ, in 1977 where they raised their family for many happy years. Mrs. Engelhardt worked for Research Cottrell for over fifteen years before dedicating time to caring for her mother Mary and family.

Anne loved to cook and host her large family for gatherings and was known as the glue of her family and as a generous and thoughtful gift giver. She was a second mom to many, her selflessness, guidance, and care was extended to all of those blessed to know her, whether for a lifetime or a minute, she left her positive imprint on their hearts. Anne enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and supported all their activities and events. Proud of her Irish heritage, she enjoyed Irish music and dancing and attended as many Irish social events and parades as she could for years and enjoyed numerous trips to Ireland to visit with extended family.

She was preceded in death by her dear siblings Mary, John, Jim, and Frank.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 56 years, Walter H. Engelhardt, Jr., her loving children, Marybeth Engelhardt, Walter H. Engelhardt, III, and Daniel Engelhardt and wife Sandy, her adored grandchildren Maeve, Mary, Sarah, Conal, her dear siblings Helen, Pat, Dan and Joe, her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church 60 Maple St, Bridgewater.

Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
