Ann Marie Whalen was called home to her heavenly father on January 14,2024.
She was born in New Brunswick to the late John J. Whalen of Barnesville Pa, and Mamie A. Davis of Somerville.
Ann Marie was born with Cerebral Palsy but didn’t let it hold her back from maintaining her independent spirit. She was raised in Manville and loved going to the Manville diner. Ann Marie went on to win the Special Olympics in Racquetball. She was an influence to her peers, always working hard and advocating for independence. With a little help from those around her, she was able to live in her own apartment in group homes. May God Bless her caregivers, especially Mary, who loved her and looked after her. They enjoyed a car trip together to Disney where Ann Marie created memories that lasted a lifetime. She loved sweets, especially thin mint cookies, and getting oranges from her family when they visited.
Surviving are her siblings, John Whalen, Mary Guglielmi, James Whalen, step siblings, Thomas A. Davis, Caroline Davis, and Tunis B. Davis.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation from 9:30AM to 11:00AM on Friday, January 26th, 2024 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville, New Jersey.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater, New Jersey
