Ann Hashway

Ann Hashway, 90, died peacefully on July 18, 2023.

Born in Pawtucket, RI to the late George and Hilda Asermily (nee Nasif), she was raised in New Jersey and a graduate of Emerson High School in Union City. A longtime resident of North Bergen, she and her beloved husband Joseph settled there to raise their family. The two started Hashway’s Deli and served the community for over thirty years. In her retirement, Ann decided to turn her love of reading into a second career. She worked as a clerk at the North Bergen Library until the age of 82 and enjoyed the time spent reading and seeing her community.

When Ann retired for the second time, she moved to Bridgewater to be closer to her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, playing Bingo & Rummikub, and spending time socializing with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Hashway, her dear son Gary Hashway, and siblings Joe Asermily and Liz Zenorini.

Surviving are her loving children, Glenn Hashway and Joanne Hashway-Rowe and husband Rich, her cherished grandson Wesley Rowe and wife Ashley. She was recently delighted to learn that she was going to become a great grandmother. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Doris, Dolores, and Lilly and husband Peter, as well as her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1890 Washington Valley Rd, Martinsville, NJ 08836.
