Angelina Mary Benassu

Angelina Benassu, 96, much loved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Angelina is survived by her children, Frances Winkeljohn (Douglas), John Benassu (Sue), Steve Benassu (David), Joanne Garner (Rick) and MaryLou Wallner; sister, Vincenza Baldini, seven beloved grandchildren, two beloved great grand children, four nephews and one niece. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Letizia Baldini; husband, Arnold Benassu; sisters Anna Chisari (Thomas), Fulvia Haury (Jack) and brother, Louis.Baldini (Codeal).

Angelina was a spirited and strong willed lady who loved the New York Giants, the New York Yankees, reading, and making sure all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were happy, healthy and enjoying life. Her family was her passion, and she was in her element when surrounded by loved ones, telling stories, sharing jokesand winning at Rumicube, Phase Ten and 500 Rummy. A perfect morning for her included a great cup of coffee, the daily crossword, and birds coming and going at the feeder outside a window.

A viewing is scheduled for Monday, July 30, 2018 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville from 4pm-7pm. A mass is scheduled at 9:30 at Immaculate Conception in Somerville, with interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Angelina’s long and well lived life at Savini’s Restaurant, Allendale. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank everyone for the many expressions of kindness, support and love that you have shown them during this period of bereavement.
