We celebrate the life of Alfred ‘Freddy’ Pitaro, beloved husband, father, nonno, brother, uncle and friend to many. Alfred, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. Alfred was born in Aprigliano, Italy and moved to Jersey City in 1945. He worked at Western Electric as a technician and retired from Lucent Technologies. He was also an Armed Forces Veteran during the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife Ines (Cervo) Pitaro and their four children: Rossana (Pasquale), Gisella (Joseph), Gene, and Franco (Ramona and son Jared). Nonno adored his 5 grandchildren: Desirée, Nicholas, Gabriella, Joseph and Anthony. He was the cherished brother of Giuseppina (Pitaro) Romano and uncle to Silvia, Francesca, Concetta and Francesco.
Visitation will be at Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville, NJ on Sunday from 2-6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary Mother of God in Hillsborough, NJ on Monday at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honor.
