Alexander James Riebe

Alexander James Riebe, 22, died suddenly on August 15, 2022. Born in Somerville, Alex lived a myriad of places, always considering Piscataway his hometown. He attended Our Lady of Fatima School, Holy Savior Academy, Bishop Ahr High School and was a graduate of Immaculata High School Class of 2018. Alex was in his senior year at the University of Southern Florida, majoring in Public Health Sciences and Chemistry. He had aspirations of obtaining his postgraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Nano Technology. Alex was intelligent, goofy, kind and thoughtful. He had a passion to learn, explore new places and various cultures. Alex wasn’t athletic per se; however, he played basketball and football, creating cherished memories and life long friendships. His independent spirit was unique and left an indelible imprint on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Alex had an understanding compassionate heart, embraced everyone and brought effervescence to the lives he touched. Alex, our gentle giant, stood six feet seven inches tall wearing a size fifteen shoe; those shoes can never be filled. His gregarious nature was met with a soft-spoken old soul. It’s difficult to capture his personality in a few brief words as Alex had an immeasurable impact on the lives he touched. There aren’t words adequate to capture the sorrow of his sudden departure from the lives of those who loved and adored him. Alex was welcomed into eternity by his beloved Babci and Dziadzi, Dorothy and Edward Wasielewski. He leaves behind his loving parents, mother Nancy Wasielewski Riebe, father Jeffrey Riebe and stepmother Melissa, his adored paternal grandparents, Nanny and Popsy, Maria and Fred Riebe, his girlfriend, Isabella Luciani, as well as a multitude of cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and classmates who will share stories of Alex and keep his legacy alive. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 1:00 to 5:00PM at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AMon Monday, August 22, 2022, at The Church of The Immaculate Conception, 35 Mountain Avenue, Somerville. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. His final resting place will be with his family at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
