Abner Beau Estival Jiron Piedra, 6, was welcomed into Heaven on May 3, 2026.

Born and raised in Somerville to his loving mom, of Erika Jiron Piedra, he was a student at Vanderveer Elementary School. Abner held a love of his hometown Somerville. Here, he enjoyed walking, going to the park, visiting local stores (specially the video game stores), and lately riding his new bike. He was part of the Somerville SBI family with his baseball team Blue Rocks where he brought energy to everything he did. Most importantly Abner was known for his kindness, empathetic spirit towards others, curiosity and love of science. 

At home Abner enjoyed taking things apart and creating mini science projects, often getting into playful trouble. He loved playing wrestling. He dreamed of becoming a philanthropist, a designer or a first responder to help others. Abner had a vibrant spirit, full of kindness, care and love for everyone in his family. He was a visionary constantly projecting with drawing what he liked and wanted in life. He understood the important of body maintenance and care and love sports such baseball, basketball, drawing, and spending time at the park, where his charisma helped him easily connect with other children. He was deeply affectionate with his mother, often pranking and hugging her, and enjoyed deep conversations about nature, the universe, and God. His storytelling was imaginative and intricate, reflecting a wisdom beyond his years.

His uncle, Manuel Jiron, described him as a charming and special boy whose brief life left lasting memories.

He is survived by his loving mother, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, extended family, and community friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Cusick Funeral Home, 80 Mountain Avenue, Somerville.

A prayer service will be held at 6:00PM.
